The USA Jigsaw Nationals showcases the sport of speed puzzling, setting the stage for some of the world’s fastest puzzlers to demonstrate their skills, but also brings together the growing community of puzzlers of all skills and interests to connect and celebrate jigsaw puzzles.

Registration Timeline for the National Championship:

October 17, 2026, noon CT: Early Registration

October 24, 2026, noon CT: Member-Only Registration

November 7, 2026, noon CT: Non-Member Registration

All puzzlers who wish to compete in the National Championship are required to purchase a Jigsaw Nationals Competition and Convention Entry Badge. This can be purchased along with Registration to the National Championship.

All puzzlers, speedy and casual alike, are welcome to join us this year by purchasing the Jigsaw Nationals Competition and Convention Entry Badge. The 2027 event has many activities to participate in that aren’t speed related. See Convention Activities below.

  • Jigsaw Nationals Competition and Convention Entry Badge ($125 + tax) - This badge gets you in the door to all of it. The puzzling, the special competitions, the seminars, the exhibitors, the food vendors, and of course free stuff! 

  • NEW for 2027. Day Pass Entry Badge ($50 + tax) - Good for one day of the event, locals, friends, and family that want to join in on the convention festivities and spectate the National Championship, this option is for you. Available for purchase at the Registration desk starting on Friday March 19, 2027. T-shirt and SWAG bag not included.

  • NEW for 2027. Spectator Button ($5 + tax) - Good for one day of the event, friends and family coming to watch can also purchase a spectator button. There are more opportunities to spectate as we sell a button for each day of the competition. Available for purchase at the Registration desk starting on Friday March 19, 2027.

  • Kids under 10 - free! They do not need an entry badge or spectator button to enter the event; however, they need to be chaperoned by an adult. Be sure to ask at the Registration Desk how they can get a free button!

Registration Specifics

When registering, be ready with ALL of the following information:

For National Championship registration, you will need:

  • Name

  • Nickname/ alias name

  • Email Address

  • City/ State of Residence

  • USAJPA Member ID number (if applicable)

  • Names of all of your teammates, along with all of the above info for each of them.

For Entry Badge registration, you will need: 

  • Name

  • Email address

  • City/state of residence

  • T-shirt size preferences 

  • Display state of residence on badge (either write out your full state name or leave blank)

  • Display social media handle (either write out your handle(s) or leave blank)

Championship Competition

New in 2027

More tables: More puzzlers can compete in every round including the finals!

  • 240 puzzlers in each of the 4 solo prelims with 60 moving on to finals

  • 240 pairs in each of the 2 prelims with 120 moving on to the finals

  • 120 teams in two prelims with 60 moving on to the finals

Pairs final will include two puzzles instead of one: Each pair will solve a 300-piece puzzle and a 500-piece puzzle consecutively with previously unreleased images. (300 pc first, 500 pc second). Pairs will have 1.5 hours to complete their puzzles.

All times are listed in Eastern Standard Time.

All puzzles used will be previously unreleased Ravensburger puzzles.

Solo ($40/individual): 500-piece puzzles for both the preliminary and final rounds. The preliminary round will consist of 240 competitors each. The final round will consist of the top 60 finishers from each of the four preliminary rounds.

Pairs ($60/pair): 500-piece puzzle for the preliminary rounds, and a 300-piece puzzle and 500-piece puzzle for the final round. Preliminary round will consist of 240 pairs each. The final round will consist of the top 120 pairs from each of the two preliminary rounds.

Teams ($120/team): For preliminary rounds, each team will receive a 500-piece puzzle and a 1000-piece puzzle in consecutive order. For the final round, each team will receive two 1,000-piece puzzles in consecutive order. The preliminary rounds will consist of 120 teams each. The final round will consist of the top 60 teams from each of the two preliminary rounds
